British Esports Announce Team Great Britain to compete in Global Esports Games 2022

Initial qualification gets underway this weekend with Team Great Britain competing in DOTA 2 qualifiers, with more fixtures scheduled over the coming weeks.

Sunderland, UK, Friday 30th September, 2022 - British Esports, the national body set up to support grassroots esports in the UK, today announces that Team Great Britain will compete in the Global Esports Games 2022 with four teams competing across three titles.


To catch all the thrilling action of the DOTA 2 qualification featuring Team Great Britain vs Ireland, Uzbekistan and Lebanon, tune into the British Esports Twitch channel on 1st and 2nd October from 12pm GMT+1.


The Global Esports Games 2022, scheduled to take place in Istanbul, Turkey, is the flagship competitive esports event from the Global Esports Federation.  Featuring many nations from around the world, teams compete in various esports titles, including; Dota 2, eFootball™, Street Fighter V and Player Unknown Battlegrounds Mobile.


Having achieved success at the Global Esports Games 2021 in Singapore, with Team Great Britain claiming Silver in the Dota 2 Women’s division, followed by 5 medals for England at the Commonwealth Esports Championships earlier this year, British Esports are pleased to confirm Mark ‘WEL13R’ Weller will return as Team Manager.


"I'm extremely excited for the upcoming Global Esports Games in Istanbul later this year.” said Mark Weller, Team Manager, Great Britain. "We have a great amount of talent in our selection with a good amount of players coming off of a very successful Commonwealth Esports Championships, and I'm hopeful that we can improve on last year's result.”
