What Fans of Gigantic and Battlerite Have Been Waiting For - Arena Brawler Alea Releases Demo for PvP Fest

Long-awaited spiritual successor to Gigantic and Battlerite finally announces a demo. PvP Brawler Alea offers players fast-paced, in-and-out matches with a high skill ceiling.

[February 4th, 2026]: Spiritual successor to arena brawlers Gigantic and Battlerite - Alea - today announces a public demo launch, alongside Steam’s PvP Fest on February 9th. Players can experience intense, in-and-out matches with a high skill ceiling thanks to Alea’s dual-skillset characters, and MMR-based matchmaking in 1v1, 2v2 and 3v3 gamemodes.

Alea sees two teams pitted against each other in a high-skill, fast-paced fight to the death. Alea’s demo will offer players the chance to play Alea’s 3 flagship characters, with more to follow upon release.

“With Alea, we draw inspiration from competitive action games like Gigantic and Battlerite, but also Divine Knockout, Spellbreak, and even MMO PvP like Guild Wars 2 and WoW Arena.” Lead developer Robert says. “Many of these games fostered passionate communities but are no longer playable - or only exist in limited form. With Alea, we want to give those players a new home.”

On what makes Alea different, Robb had this to say. "Our motto is ‘fast, fluid, fun’. We place huge emphasis on feel and moment-to-moment gameplay. We don’t even have a main menu - you are just playing immediately."

Key features of Alea’s demo include:

  • High-Skill Ceiling Combat. Each of the three heroes in Alea’s demo has two distinctive movesets which can be swapped in an instant, allowing your own unique playstyle to develop.

  • Non-stop Action. MMR-based matchmaking sends you roaring back into battle after battle, with minimal downtime. Spend time in matches instead of waiting for matches, and fit your fury into whatever free moments you have available. Fight 1v1, 2v2, or 3v3!

  • Vibrant Community. Connect with both other players and the development team to form friendships and rivalries, and help shape the course of the game as it continues to evolve!

Alea’s public demo will release February 9th as part of Steam PvP Fest - offering players their first chance to jump in and dominate the battlefield. Players can also follow the game on Discord and Steam.
