Warframe: Tau Arrives Free for All Platforms in December

Digital Extremes’ first look at ‘Warframe: Tau’ prepares its millions of players to discover a new adventure in a distant Star System, teasing new gameplay modes, friends and foes, and a focused look at the new Warframe, Brysko

LONDON, Ontario – Oct. 30, 2026 – Tau is in sight. A new era of Warframe awaits players beyond The Origin System as Digital Extremes prepares to invite those, new and returning, to discover a new Star System with Warframe: Tau in December, arriving for free on all PC, console, and mobile platforms.

Launched in 2013, Warframe marked an epochal shift in free-to-play online gaming, evolving into a game for multiple generations with a thriving community of more than 90 million players worldwide across multiple cycles of next-gen consoles and gaming hardware. Blending bold, single-player cinematic storytelling swings with slick, parkour-inspired cooperative gameplay while fostering one of gaming's most inclusive online communities, Digital Extremes continues to experiment with fresh ways to surprise and delight players worldwide. In Devstream 198, the creative team behind gaming’s biggest sleeper hit took its community through its first in-depth look at a daring next chapter arriving in December — Warframe: Tau.

“Today is the first of two detailed looks at Warframe: Tau, and we have so much left for players to discover with us before this update arrives later this year,” said Megan Everett, Community Director at Digital Extremes. “We have a ton of surprises for our next Devstream on November 27, so please stay tuned for more! To all our players, new and returning, the Origin System is not being left behind. While we focus right now on Tau, we have so many stories to tell, and now just have more places to share them.”
