Monday, 4 September 2023, Cambridge, UK. Launching today, RuneScape introduces Hero Pass, a new battle pass system which creates a track for RuneScape players to explore to unlock powerful items, XP buffs, and awesome cosmetics. Hero Pass has a reward track that all players benefit from with a huge array of free rewards available to all standard Members with additional premier rewards free for 12 Month Premier Membership subscribers.
Replacing Yak Track and the Challenge System, Hero Pass refines how players engage RuneScape for a more rewarding experience. Players earn Hero Points via an ‘always-on’ battle pass system which includes daily, weekly, and special missions. With Hero Pass, players can progress through the rewards track organically by playing RuneScape as they normally would, taking on missions to progress faster.
Each Hero Pass season will feature 120 levels of content, with 99 standard levels and an additional 21 heroic levels for players that like a challenge. The Hero Pass seasons will last longer than previous Yak Traks, each lasting three months, giving players more time than ever to level up.
Hero Pass’ first season celebrates the launch of Necromancy with a variety of Underworld themed rewards. On top of a trove of Underworld themed cosmetics including the Radiant Warden and Crypt Lord outfits, there will be a rich level of rewards for both free and Hero Pass Premium members.
There will also be a rich selection of rewards for all players including Skill XP buffs, variant animations for Necromantic conjures, Hero Pass Satchels (containing gameplay-focused items), and Emblems - the new currency specific for each season of Hero Pass.
On the Hero Pass Store, players will have additional current and classic rewards to acquire in the order they prefer. Store items are acquired with Emblems, earned through Hero Pass levels, and the entire store can be earned through gameplay.
Premier Hero Pass, which contains additional rewards, will be free for Premier Members. Free to Play and Standard Members get access to the Free Hero Pass, with upgrades available for three Bonds - a currency earnable through gameplay.
