‘Not Chess’ to be launched on Kickstarter by Goodlark Games

Independent board game company launches a “ridiculous remix to the classic game of chess”

Perth, Australia: Today, independent board game company Goodlark Games announced October 5 as the launch date of their first Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign for their new game, Not Chess. The game is described as the “ridiculous remix your dusty chess set has been waiting for”, whereby players use 90 unique cards to give their chess pieces wacky powers, with the ultimate goal of eliminating all of the opponent’s pieces. Players can add Not Chess to any chess set, or (as part of the Not Chess Kickstarter campaign) pledge to receive the ‘Ultimate Box’, which includes a full set of Not Chess pieces, along with a chess board.

Co-Director of Goodlark Games Mitch Bruce describes Not Chess as the “party card game designed to spice up your chess life. Whether you’re a chess fanatic, or have never played a game in your life, Not Chess is the perfect addition to your game collection. Not Chess can be played head to head with 2 people, or is perfect for game nights with up to 6 people split into 2 teams. Not Chess is the highly strategic (and highly goofy) game that your chess set has been begging for.”

About the Kickstarter: The Not Chess Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign will run from 5 October to 9 November 2022. Fans can pledge their money to receive different awards through the campaign. These rewards include:

  • The Main Game: USD $25 – includes the 90 unique Not Chess cards.
  • The Main Game + Extreme Sports Edition: USD $35 – includes 18 new mini games.
  • The Ultimate Box Set: USD $55 – includes all of the above, plus the adults-only Booze & Butts Edition. This reward also includes all the pieces players need, in a collectable box which doubles as a chess board.

The nature of Kickstarter means that fans won’t be charged unless the campaign is successful, and the more people that pledge, the better the product becomes.

About Goodlark Games: Based in Perth, Australia, Goodlark Games is the passion project of good friends Mitch Bruce and Jed Herne. Not Chess is their first project.
