MONTREAL – THURSDAY, JUNE 11, 2023 – As revealed earlier today, the narrative adventure game Goodbye Volcano High has been named as one of eight Official Selections in this year’s Tribeca Festival. Goodbye Volcano High is a story-driven, choice-based cinematic adventure game about personal growth, acceptance, and the power of community. The game follows Fang, a dinosaur and budding musician, and their classmates as they near the end of their senior year of high school.
KO-OP, the indie studio developing and publishing the title, will premiere all-new gameplay during the New York City-based festival, which runs June 7-18, and during the adjacent Digital Tribeca Festival Game showcase on June 9th. Goodbye Volcano High will be available for hands-on play for ticket holders throughout the event and, as an Official Selection, the game is eligible for the 2023 Tribeca Festival Game Award.
The Tribeca Festival brings artists and diverse audiences together to celebrate storytelling in all its forms, including film, TV, VR, games, music, and online work. The Games program at the Tribeca Festival celebrates the convergence of games, entertainment, and culture, highlighting the storytelling, art, and innovation of games.
KO-OP’s emotional, high-stakes teenage narrative adventure will take players on a journey of self-discovery, deciding how to live one’s life to the fullest when you know that your days together are numbered. The story unfolds through branching dialog, bold choices, and original songs – written by in-house composer Dabu and featuring vocalist Brigitte Naggar of Common Holly -- as performed by Fang, Trish, and Reed’s band Worm Drama.
Goodbye Volcano High is slated to launch on the PlayStation®5, PlayStation®4, and Steam on August 19th of this year and it can currently be wishlisted.
