Contact Protocol Demo is Out Now!

The Papers, Please-inspired starship job simulator releases its first publicly available build on Steam.

Contact Protocol is a starship job simulator. When passing other ships on the way to Jupiter, you’ll check their details against company records and facilitate safe passage, but be wary - there are corporate competitors, smugglers, and more in the space lanes…

What’s in the Demo:

  • 10 ship encounters (including procedural elements)
  • 10 character scenes where choices matter and affect the story
  • 7 extra possible character scenes that appear depending on your actions

  • Multiple ways to obtain important information
  • Connected data systems: personal notebook, digital company records
  • Mini-puzzles you have to complete when checking data
  • A mystery so weird that players think it’s a bug (no one has solved it yet)
  • Around 40 minutes of gameplay

The demo features content from Act 1 of the full game. You’ll be launched into the space lanes just as an unknown group has started to destroy corporate ships. Is it Martian nationalists, pirates, or something else entirely?

You’ll have to use your investigational skills to check passing ships, and decide whether they can be trusted. All the while, they’ll be making the same decision about you.
