Announcing: Boss Rush!!!
One of the things you'll be able to play is the end boss fight against Solara, which is all completely done and in the game! Let me tell you about one of the coolest moments that I've been building towards.
The main character Ember has her Solstice Storm ultimate ability that strikes enemies eight times. (Erudite gamers will recognize this as an adaptation of Omnislash from the Final Fantasy series!) The player has been practicing their triggers for the entire game and getting the timing right. But then when you get to the end boss you realize who Ember learned her ultimate from.
Solara does Solstice Storm to you when she hits half health, and again in her second phase when she hits half health. Each strike must be individually dodged or parried. You've had the whole game to get the timing down, so it should be no problem, right?
I've also been working on the final two spirit companions. Here's one of them. Thuraam is an inventor who grants you spears to use during combat. As you fight, spears appear on your back. Using your Magic calls the spears to be thrown at your enemy. Then when you use your Ultimate, this happens:
Ember shoots six spears at the target enemy from Thuraam's spear-launching gatling gun, then all of the spears in the level get yanked from the ground and thrown back down at random enemies. The more spears you've created earlier in the game, the more damage it does.
I've also made good progress on the abilities for Rhystia the Black Mage, and I'll be showing those soon.
