The game is currently content complete and the few extra months of development will be spent on optimization, debug, and polish. The Game Bakers’ goal has always been to create games players remember long after playing them, and for Cairn, despite the team's best efforts, this requires extra time.
“We have been running a lot of playtests, and the feedback from players is that we have something truly special with Cairn. We also see all the improvements we can still do to make the experience unforgettable. After 5 years of work, it makes no sense to rush it, we want to be proud of the game we launch,” explained Emeric Thoa, the Creative Director.
Cairn’s new release date is not announced at this stage, but it will be releasing on PS5 and PC in the first quarter of 2026.
Starting on October 13, Cairn’s demo will be receiving an update: for a limited time climbers will see ghosts of other players climbing alongside them on Mount Tenzen. Ghosts of speedrunners, community and team members will let them race against the best, check new techniques, or discover new routes and hidden areas.
