Northanda Chronicles brings classic RPG party roles to roguelike deckbuilding in its free Steam Next Fest demo.

The tactical roguelike deckbuilder brings the classic RPG party roles of Tank, Healer and DPS and into a shared deckbuilding experience.

Sydney, Australia | October 19 2026: Independent developer Hyperfocus Interactive has announced that Northanda Chronicles, its upcoming party-based roguelike deckbuilder, will participate in Steam Next Fest from 19 to 26 October, inviting players to experience its unique approach to tactical, role-based combat through a free playable demo.
 

Players can download the free demo on Steam, experiment with different party compositions and discover the strategic possibilities of controlling three heroes through one evolving deck through the full first act.
The game is currently in development for PC, with an Early Access release planned for Q1 2027.

Three Heroes, One Shared Deck

At the heart of Northanda Chronicles is a twist on traditional roguelike deckbuilding. Players command an entire RPG party built around the classic Tank, Healer and DPS roles, combining three heroes’ unique cards and abilities into one evolving deck.

Each hero fulfils a distinct role:

  • Supports fuel the party with extra resources, well-timed card manipulation and powerful buffs.
  • Slayers scale your party's strength, chaining devastating combos to exploit enemy weaknesses. 
  • Defenders shield allies, taunt enemies to redirect attacks and tank incoming damage.

Although all three share one deck, each manages their own regenerating mana pool. Players must sequence cards carefully, balance their resources and anticipate enemy actions to bring out the best in their party.

Beyond combat, players chart their own path through dangerous dungeons using “Encounter Cards”. Each encounter presents different risks and rewards, allowing players to choose their approach, tackle challenges in any order, or replace encounters with a camp to wait out the harsh night. 
Every run evolves through branching upgrades, powerful Artifacts, Blessings and socketable Gems, opening new strategic possibilities with each journey.

A Fantasy World Consumed by the Void

The Sanctuary of Lumina remains one of the last havens untouched by a spreading corruption known as the Void.

Chosen by the mysterious Aspects, a party of heroes must venture beyond the Sanctuary's peaceful walls and confront a fractured world. Their journey takes them from the enchanted Whispering Wildwoods to the dark alleys of Valmire, battling corrupted creatures and uncovering the fate of a fallen heir.

Their ultimate destination is the elven city of Tel Andor, where they must confront the fallen Prince and fight to save Northanda.
