Theorycraft Games is looking for playtesters, gives hints at IP development

Despite being just 9 months into development, Theorycraft is already hosting closed door, bi-weekly, pre-alpha playtests for community feedback

LOS ANGELES, USA - September 27, 2021 - Theorycraft Games just recently announced their first game, codenamed ‘Loki,’ will be open for pre-alpha playtesting signups, happening every second Thursday from 6pm PT to 9pm PT - the next one being September 30th.

Fans of MOBAs, going on adventures with friends, and team-based competitive PvP are welcome to sign up, as well as those who want to go on a game development journey with a new indie studio. While Theorycraft notes that Loki is still in a pre-alpha prototyping state and has no publicly announced launch date, they still believe that early community feedback is critical in building the right game.

Theorycraft also just teased early IP explorations of Loki on their dev blog, including exploratory concept art of characters, as well as a concept image of a colorful, open world. Included within the early Theorycraft art team (in addition to Moby Francke, former art director of VALORANT, League of Legends, Team Fortress 2, and DotA 2) is Renaud Galand, Dylan Jones, and Matt Taylor, instrumental members of Overwatch & Overwatch 2’s characters team; Jungah Lee, a former visual development artist on Blizzard’s famed cinematics team; Rory Alderton, former animation director of League of Legends: Wild Rift; and Josh Smith, former character art director of VALORANT.

Theorycraft plans to continue posting updates on Loki and their game development journey every two weeks on their official blog.

About Theorycraft Games:

Theorycraft Games is a new independent game studio on a mission to make deep, 10,000-hour games that are just better when played with friends. Theorycraft was founded less than a year ago by Joe Tung, Mike Tipul, Michael Evans, Areeb Pirani, and Moby Francke - former studio leadership who once worked at Riot Games, Bungie, Blizzard, and Valve Software. Collectively they led the development of games such as League of Legends, Halo, Destiny, Overwatch, VALORANT, DotA 2, and Team Fortress 2.

Theorycraft is currently developing their first title—codenamed ‘Loki’—a game for fans of MOBAs, going on adventures with friends, and team-based, competitive PvP. Tapping into their experiences leading community-first studios, Theorycraft’s development philosophy has been to get in front of players as early as possible for feedback. They now host bi-weekly, closed-doors, pre-alpha playtests with a growing community of players and welcome anyone to sign up.

Theorycraft is a fully remote studio, with roots in Los Angeles and Seattle.
