August 15, 2023 - Shanghai, China - Mahjong Soul, the anime-themed Japanese riichi mahjong game, launched its latest update featuring a new character, Kurone Toujou. The update also showcases four new outfits, an array of decorations, and numerous rewards. The festival will remain accessible from August 15th until September 8th. In addition, Mahjong Soul is gearing up for its Phase Connect Mahjong Cup ~ 2023 as part of the summer festival. The collaboration with the virtual entertainment company Phase Connect is attracting widespread attention and anticipation among players.
About Summer Festival
During the Summer Festival, a new character is introduced along with a limited-time event. The special 'Hand of Meow Event' presents players with the chance to secure various free rewards. During this event, coveted items such as Limited Tile Face & Back - Cat Saint, Limited Title - Hand of Meow, and Summon Scrolls are up for grabs. Additionally, Regular Summon sees an expansion with the addition of 28 new decorations and effects. These include four Match BGMs, two Riichi BGMs, six Tile Backs, six Tablecloths, four Riichi Bets, three Riichi Effects, and three Winning Effects. The update also ushers in a new character story for Kana Fujita. Players can reap rewards including Summon Scroll, a Sunshine Lucky Bag, and more by unlocking and delving into these character stories.
New Character: Kurone Toujou
Once renowned as geisha 'Alluring Beauty', Kurone Toujou is rumored to inhabit a paradise-like residence, Countless Springs, with year-round blossoms. Since her participation in the Mahjong Soul Shrine's mahjong competition, however, her public appearances have become rare, reserved only for festival parades. Her constant companion is an emerald-engraved shamisen with broken strings, never played or repaired, fueling much speculation but no understanding. Surrounded by divergent opinions, Toujou's past remains an enigma. By raising bonds, players can unlock limited decorations and her Animated Bond Outfit. The decorations include Riichi - Fox's Wish, Winning - Grass Crown and Portrait Frame - Heart of the Fox.
New Outfits and Decorations
During this Summer Festival, Mahjong Soul introduces a new series of outfits: Beachside Vacation, including 2 animated outfits for Fu Ji and Kana Fujita. Two other outfits are also available for Usumi Ishihara and Wanjirou. Also, Heartfelt Summer Series are available now as rerun outfits. Moreover, players have the opportunity to obtain new limited decorations during Summer Festival, including Tablecloth - To the Seaside, Tile Back - Seagull Supremacy, Portrait Frame - Young Lady's Hairband, Riichi Bet - Sweet Watermelon and Riichi BGM - "Blazing Moment".
