September 18, 2025 - Hooded Horse is excited to reveal another new game joining the portfolio of world-class strategy and tactics games. Fogpiercer, from Slovakia-based Mad Cookies Studio, is a post-apocalyptic roguelike deckbuilder where you must manage a train beset on all sides by bandits, fog, and overly eager train enthusiasts. It’s due to release into early access in 2026, and a brand new gameplay trailer marking the partnership was shown during the Convergence showcase:
In the harsh world of Fogpiercer, the train is the deck and player build choices determine which cards are used when fighting off hordes of unreasonably angry bandits who don’t want them reaching their destination. Each carriage holds a unique set of cards, and new cards are added to the deck through upgrades and extra carriages.
Fighting off those pesky bandits will require skill and planning. Positioning is key, and all battles take place on a square grid with the train front and centre. Play the right cards at the right time, and enemies can be tricked into attacking each other, pushed out of the way so their attacks miss, or even knocked in front of the train so they can be crushed under the wheels. Add to that a range of other weapons and abilities via the different carriage options, and there’s plenty of ways for players to ensure they emerge victorious.
Players must guide their train through a branching world map. The journey won’t be easy, and to reach the end of the line, they’ll have to make the right choices at the right time – make sure to try and stop at stations to heal up and purchase new carriages or upgrades. Don’t fear failure – with the roguelite meta-layer, there’ll be plenty of unlocks and progression to make subsequent runs easier.
