In Oaks vs Orcs, the last living forest is under attack from an orc army seeking the Great Tree. Players expand their kingdom across a tactical grid, place troops and defences, and extend a river from a single source. Tiles connected to the river activate bonuses, while the water’s path determines which groves awaken and how effects chain downstream.

Between waves, players draft from more than 100 cards, including structures that attack automatically, troops that march into battle and mutations that change how units behave. Seasons periodically transform the terrain and alter its bonuses, requiring players to adjust their plans across 20 waves and multiple boss encounters. The game will also include multiple campaigns and an endless mode with leaderboards.

“In most kingdom builders, the forest is the first thing you clear. In Oaks vs Orcs, the forest is the kingdom,” said Nico King, Creative Director at Chaos Theory Games. “You bend the river and turn a tiny ecosystem into a living war machine. We love that contradiction: the more beautiful your kingdom becomes, the more dangerous it gets.”

Oaks vs Orcs Key Features:

  • Build a living forest kingdom on an expanding tactical grid.
  • Bend the river through your strongest tiles to create chains of bonuses.
  • Combine more than 100 cards into powerful, build-defining strategies.
  • Place your army, then watch it auto-battle massive orc hordes.
  • Fight through distinct campaigns, powerful bosses, and endless challenges.
  • Experiment with new combinations and break the game in a different way every run.

Oaks vs Orcs is scheduled to release for PC in 2027. Players can wishlist the game and register for the playtest on Steam.
