Warsaw – October 28, 2026 – Primal Planet, a handcrafted metroidvania with couch co-op, is out now on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Ahead of its PC launch in 2025, Jared Petty of IGN wrote that Primal Planet "stands out among the most charming" games he's played since 1982. He spoke of its "inexhaustible reservoir of creativity, color, motion, and wonder" and its "incredible attention to detail and environmental storytelling."
Shaun Prescott at PC Gamer wrote: "I had more fun playing this game than I have anything else so far in 2025." He called its pixel art "gorgeous" and wrote that "the real joy of Primal Planet is in its movement."
Meanwhile, Eurogamer's Christian Donlan wrote a love letter to its abundance of secrets and "loving attention to detail."
IGN's headline summed it up: "Primal Planet Lets You Hug Your Dinosaur."
Developed over the course of five years by solo developer Albert van Zyl aka Seethingswarm, Primal Planet blends combat, exploration, survival, and crafting with a story told without a single word of dialogue. You play a prehistoric dad struggling to protect his family – from dinosaurs, savage tribes, and… ancient aliens.
And you don't have to do it alone. A tiny dinosaur sidekick fights alongside you, and a second player can take control of it at any time in local co-op. It's a game about taking care of somebody close.
