Fate’s Theater Is Out Now!

A Mischievous Card-Based Game Where Every Card Combination Tells a Rhyming Tale.

Kyiv, Ukraine – Ukrainian indie developer Totally Normal Creature announces the release of Fate’s Theater, a small experimental storytelling toy where adorable silhouettes meet mischievous destiny. Available now on Steam for $2.99 USD (with a 10% launch discount), Fate’s Theater invites players to pair cards, tip the balance between Fortune and Misfortune, and reveal over 400 hand-written two-line tales told in playful rhyme.

In Fate’s Theater, two feuding fairies, Fortune and Misfortune, compete to twist the fates of unsuspecting mortals. Each card combination reveals a rhyming micro-story with two possible outcomes, depending on which fairy prevails. Inspired by “sadushki,” a Soviet-era children’s folklore tradition blending innocence with black humor, Fate’s Theater embraces duality: light and shadow, whimsy and macabre, Fortune and Misfortune. With reactive music, shifting shadow-theater visuals, and collectible fates, the game blends curiosity, rhyme, and gentle strategy in solo or friendly duels.

The project marks a final bow for Totally Normal Creature, previously known for the positively reviewed precision platformers E.Z (2018) and We Are Eva (2023). “We’ve spent years torturing players and wanted to leave something gentle behind,” says the developer. “And we probably failed at the ‘gentle’ part.”

Fate’s Theater is available now on Steam.
