BOWLING GREEN, KY – September 18, 2023 – GTTOD: Get To The Orange Door, the parkour first-person shooter (FPS) rouge-like from developer Layers Deep and publisher Hitcents, has released its new “Secrets of the Shatter” update to players on Steam Early Access, offering significant improvements and expansions. Set in an ‘80s-inspired retrofuturist world, GTTOD players jump, dash, and run through neon-infused levels to a pulse-pounding synth-wave soundtrack, using multiple weapon types to eradicate enemies blocking the orange door at the end of each level. The update incorporates crafting and save mechanics, a substantial increase in the number of available levels, and other new features and revamps throughout.
“The ‘Secrets of the Shatter’ update literally doubles the amount of levels and environments in the game, adding in tons of new content and polishing up the gameplay to a significant degree,” shares Lead Developer Andrew Smith. “This is, without a doubt, the largest content drop GTTOD has ever seen.”
With the new update comes a handful of Quality-of-Life features that are sure to enhance player experience, with the ability to save games mid-run allowing gamers to pause and step away when needed – something which will come in handy with the extra challenge and lore brought about by the addition of the game’s second act, Altitude 2. Simultaneously, lethal and tactical items can now be combined to craft weapons for greater variety and more nuanced strategy. These highly-requested features, alongside a new tutorial level, serve to further open GTTOD to those picking the game up for the first time while providing its veterans alternative playstyles.
These are far from the only additions: among others, the update ushers in extraction elements, more environments, extra curses and blessings, and formidable new enemies, including Elite Enemies. The newest levels particularly emphasize GTTOD’s high-octane combat and feature weapons that make every shot count. “Secrets of the Shatter” also adds to the game’s user-selected run modifier system, the Wall of Attunements, giving more options to finetune gameplay than ever before. Changes to the game’s upgrades and progression system will further elevate players’ experience as they acquire powerful abilities and increase their skills.
GTTOD: Get to the Orange Door is available for Windows PC via Steam Early Access for USD $19.99.
