“This change has been a possibility for a while,” Project lead Heleor said. “We want Genfand to be a unique experience for players - and this cross-genre fusion is something we haven’t seen done before. It’s something that we’re incredibly excited for.”

Fleshing out systems foretold in ancient concept art, The Contest of Gimmicks is part of Genfanad’s mission to differentiate themselves from their influences and move in a direction fresh (and, most importantly, fun) for their dedicated player base.
The Contest of Gimmicks features:
-
A truly social MMORPG - with deckbuilding, epic bosses, collaborative TCG battles and PvP!
-
16 skills to level up - including mining, smithing and botany.
-
250+ unique trading cards for players to collect, upgrade, and battle with!
-
5 unique card archetypes that can be mixed and matched to create exciting, unique decks!
-
Countless exciting, funny quests to embark on - the world of Nuublandia doesn’t take itself too seriously!
Genfanad’s closed beta on the 20th October will be accessible to their Kickstarter & Patreon backers, giving the community the ability to give feedback on the update and make their voices heard- though the team is quick to emphasise that the beta will be not nearly fully complete, and that players should not expect a full game.
“The key for us is ensuring that Genfanad is fun to play long-term,” Heleor explained. “We want our full focus to be on our current players feeding back to our team so we can create the best update possible.”
Genfanad’s The Contest of Gimmicks update will launch towards the end of 2023. Wishlist Genfanad on Steam here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1976290/Genfanad_A_Generic_Fantasy_Adventure/
