ArcheAge Chronicles Releases Developer Video

SEOUL, South Korea – October 7, 2026 – XLGAMES today released a developer video for its open-world action MMORPG, ArcheAge Chronicles, on the game's official YouTube channel.

In the video, Executive Producer Yongjin Ham discusses the overall vision for ArcheAge Chronicles, its key gameplay features, its business model, and plans beyond Early Access.

XLGAMES will continue to share updates on the development process and key decisions with players.
 
Ham described ArcheAge Chronicles as "a game that places a strong emphasis not only on competition, but also on exploration and cooperation."

"Our goal is to make exploring and discovering the world rewarding on your own, while also creating natural opportunities to meet other players, help one another, and take on challenges together," Ham said.
 
The current development build features four classes: Battlerage, Archery, Sorcery, and Defense.

Combat revolves around reading enemy movements and deciding moment to moment when to dodge, parry, and attack.

Beyond combat, the team is developing a variety of activities, including gliding, underwater exploration, housing, life skills, crafting, and trade.
 
Buy-to-Play, With No In-Game Store at Early Access Launch
Ham also outlined the team's approach to the business model. ArcheAge Chronicles will be a buy-to-play game, with no in-game store planned for Early Access launch.

"Pay-to-win systems were never part of our vision when we first designed ArcheAge Chronicles, and that direction has not changed and will not change,"

Ham said. "Our fundamental approach is that character progression and competitive strength should be earned by playing the game."
 
"For optional purchases that may be introduced after Early Access, we are considering areas such as additional content, customization, and convenience," he added. "We will continue to uphold our principle that we will never sell pay-to-win items."

If an in-game store is introduced in the future, XLGAMES will announce its launch timing and the types of items available in advance.
 
Free Steam Next Fest Demo Begins October 19
ArcheAge Chronicles will take part in Steam Next Fest: October 2026, which runs from October 19 at 10:00 AM PDT through October 26 at 10:00 AM PDT. The game will offer a free public demo throughout the event.
The demo includes content from the previous network test, plus a new dungeon and, for the first time, PvP. No separate application or invitation is required; anyone with a Steam account can play.
