September 9, 2025 – Game Devs of Color Expo (GDoCExpo), now in its tenth year, will take place next week, running September 16-19. Organized by the 501(c)(3) nonprofit Game Devs of Color, the four‑day event will feature live panels, developer interviews, and new game announcements.

GDoCExpo Direct
Game Devs of Color Expo will kick off on September 16 at 1 p.m. PDT / 4 p.m. EDT with the GDoCExpo Direct, featuring more than 30 new game announcements from creators of color. The showcase will be broadcast live on the GDoCExpo YouTube channel.
Watch Parties
In addition to the virtual program, in‑person watch parties are returning this year in New York City, Pittsburgh, Rochester, Poughkeepsie, Portland, and more. Visit the Watch Party page here for more details.
Steam Sale
The Game Devs of Color Expo Steam Sale will also be live during the conference starting on September 16, with hundreds of demos and discounted games.
Grants
Thanks to the support of the New York City Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment (NYC MOME) and No More Robots, GDoCExpo will award three $7,000 no‑strings development grants to creators of color. The recipients of the grants will be awarded on September 19. Since 2019, GDoCExpo has awarded a total of $405,000 in grants to game creators of color.

We will not only be presenting ‘Made in NY’ grants to up and coming game developers, but also supporting the expo's viewing party - a gathering of NYC’s digital game community,” said Commissioner of the NYC Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment, Pat Swinney Kaufman. "These grants exemplify this administration's continued work to uplift and expand NYC's digital games industry, and make it accessible to all New Yorkers."
