Note: The Past Within is a co-op only game. Both players need to own a copy of the game, as well as a way to communicate with each other. The game can be played cross-device (Switch, mobile, tablet or computer) and doesn't need an internet connection.

The Past Within is an asynchronous point-and-click puzzle adventure set within the surrealistic realm of Rusty Lake. By investigating The Past and The Future, players must work together to figure out and set into motion Albert Vanderboom’s cryptic plans from beyond the grave. Where the previous Rusty Lake games consisted of purely 2D environments, in The Past Within players also experience the universe in 3D!

Soon, the mystery surrounding the past of Rusty Lake and Albert Vanderboom will also be available to investigate through the Nintendo eShop. Together, players can explore The Past and The Future and solve a variety of puzzles across all the available platforms as long as they can communicate with each other.

Developer Rusty Lake has successfully released sixteen games in the Rusty Lake universe, with The Past Within being the first co-op puzzle experience of the series. As of today, the game is also the first Rusty Lake game to launch on Nintendo Switch! The Past Within was initially released on PC, Mac, iOS and Android in November 2022 and has since sold over one million units on Steam and mobile devices.

Publishing our first title on the Nintendo Switch is truly a dream come true for us, especially as long-time fans of Nintendo's amazing and inspiring games. We are very excited to release The Past Within as our first Rusty Lake title on the Nintendo Switch and we look forward to seeing players from all over the world teaming up to play the game on this unique device.
