Press release

"RPG Developer Bakin" will be exhibited at Tokyo Game Show 2022 and will be played for the first time

First tryout of a programming-free creation tool for PCs is now offered.

September 8, 2022 - Sapporo, Japan - Today, SmileBoom is pleased to announce that it will exhibit "RPG Developer Bakin," an RPG creation tool that allows users to create games regardless of programming knowledge, at TOKYO GAME SHOW 2022 to be held from September 15, 2022 (JST).  This will be the first opportunity to try out the tool, which will be available in Early Access on Steam on October 3, 2022 (PDT).  At the same time, we will also introduce the "Camera Tool," a feature of this tool, and additional features such as "applying a point light to a subgraphic," which users have been asking for.

About RPG Developer Bakin
"RPG Developer Bakin" is a game creation tool that combines ease of use and high features, making it easy for anyone to create games inspired by "your world".  It includes a map editor that allows you to create maps as if you were playing a game, an event creation system that controls the game by simply arranging panels with functions, a database that provides detailed character status settings, advanced screen effect settings that can dramatically change sceneries, and many other tools.  Graphics and sound assets are also provided, so you can start creating "your game" right away.

"Camera Tool" for freely moving in the 3D space and projecting each scene of the game.
The "Camera Tool" can be used to create camerawork to enhance the scene while moving across the field, during battles, and various other event scenes.  You can use the mouse to move the camera on the preview, and then use properties to define the angle of view and gazing point to determine how the scene will appear in the game.  By adding frames to the timeline, adjusting the connecting movement between frames, and controlling the degree of post-effects applied, emotional camerawork can be created for a scene.

Point light source support for subgraphics, which was highly requested by users, ON/OFF of subgraphics, and a random placement pen have been implemented.
Since the release of this tool, we have received numerous requests from many people through the Steam community and social networking sites.  The development team has been working to respond to your requests and has now implemented two requested features: "support for a point light on a subgraphic" and "turning a subgraphic on and off by an event".

These allow, for example, "fire pedestals in a cave are lit to illuminate the surroundings" or "a sword worn by a character with a subgraphic can be attached or detached using an event".

Furthermore, a "random placement pen" has been implemented to add randomness to the scale and Y-axis rotation angle of the objects placed on maps.  For instance, when trees are arranged using this feature, they can form a more natural forest than a uniform row of trees, because the trees are placed at random scales and orientations within the specified range.  It can also be used to place natural objects such as rocks or cluttered boxes, a feature that can produce interesting results depending on your ideas.

"RPG Developer Bakin" is currently available on the Steam page for you to add to your wishlist.  The latest information about "RPG Developer Bakin" is available on the Steam community and social networking sites.  We will also be answering your questions, so please check them out.
