New Games-Inspired TV and Film Projects Announced by Epic MegaGrant Recipients Goldfinch and Talenthouse

Friday 19th February 2021, London, UK – Amidst strong competition, Draugen and Gylt, game IPs from Red Thread Games and Tequila Works, have been selected as new potential TV and film projects by entertainment company Goldfinch.

The games were developed using Epic Games’ Unreal Engine, which Goldfinch announced a development program with in October 2019. The initiative was created to identify independent video game IPs for TV and film development.

Goldfinch will now work with the Talenthouse community of creatives to produce and develop pitch treatments to turn the video game IPs into film and TV properties. The treatments of Draugen and Gylt will be made into a 90-second teaser trailer, to be released to the industry at the Cannes Film Festival, with the intention of packaging the projects ready for production.

The partnership between Goldfinch, Unreal Engine and Talenthouse is in place to create an ecosystem for identifying, developing and monetising IP from video games developers.

Phil McKenzie, COO of Goldfinch, said “Bringing Talenthouse on board alongside Epic was an opportunity that we couldn’t miss. Not only do they give us immediate access to some of the most exciting creatives out there to help advance these specific projects, but here is real long-term value to partnering with them to bring all manner of IP to life in different guises”.

Dylan Wise, Global Director of Production, Talenthouse said: “This is unlike anything we have ever produced and I hope a sign of more projects like this to come. We’ve had the tremendous opportunity to watch the creatives in our network go from home production submissions to our platforms, to producing full-scale television ads with us. To be able to give them the opportunity to break into narrative film is something I am enormously proud of. These are creative teams that I have worked with on hundreds of social media campaigns and YouTube pre-roll ads and now I get to see them pitch their ideas on how monsters should eat people, it’s a joy.

Mike Gamble, Director of Business Development, Epic Games commented: “This is a great initiative providing our Unreal Engine developers with exciting new areas of revenue generation by connecting them to other creative communities and audiences. I can’t wait to see what the outcome will be for these two great game IPs.
