EMBARGOED UNTIL 9 October 2026, 11:00 BRT (São Paulo) / 16:00 CEST / 10:00 ET
São Paulo, Brazil – 9 October 2026 – Sarepta Studio, the Norwegian studio that co-developed the BAFTA award-winning My Child Lebensborn, today announced at Brasil Game Show that its sequel, My Child New Beginnings, will launch on Steam on 10 November 2026. The PC release is a premium, complete edition of the game's first season, Book One, priced at USD 19.99, with a 10% launch discount during the first week.
With My Child New Beginnings, released on mobile in November 2025, the My Child series has now passed 30 million downloads worldwide. The Steam version removes the mobile game's real-time waiting and ads, letting players experience the full first season from start to finish.
In My Child New Beginnings, you become the sole caregiver of Karin or Klaus, an adopted child carrying the weight of a painful past. The game is set in Norway in the early 1990s. After hard times force the two of you into a tiny apartment in a new village, you finally get the chance to move into a proper home, and Karin or Klaus starts at a new school. But your child is holding something back about the past, and it is up to you to discover what it means to heal together.
Caring for your child is about the everyday: meals, showers, bedtime, play and school, and conversations that range from small chores to big feelings. But the past keeps breaking through. Karin or Klaus lives with anxiety and complex post-traumatic stress (C-PTSD), and a small trigger can turn into a panic attack that you have to help them through. Being a good parent means finding the balance between comfort and challenge, closeness and boundaries. The setbacks hurt, and the breakthroughs feel enormous.
Sarepta Studio worked with a psychologist throughout development, so the ways you support your child, from breathing exercises to building their self-esteem, are grounded in real techniques used to help children with trauma.
"Shakes the player up and turns apathy into empathy." – NRK, 5/6 (translated from Norwegian)
A sequel was never planned. My Child Lebensborn ended where it had to, with a move and an uncertain future, and stretching the story further would have meant drifting away from a truthful portrayal of the real Lebensborn children. But players kept replaying the game because they didn't want to let go of their child, and they kept asking what happened next.
My Child New Beginnings is the answer. Karin and Klaus are the same children with the same experiences, but the game steps away from the historical setting. Where My Child Lebensborn was about powerlessness and historical injustice, New Beginnings is about what comes after: what trauma does to a child, and how you build something safe together.
"Players didn't want to let go of their child, and neither did I. Lebensborn leaves you asking: what happens now? Can we recover from this? Will I ever see my child truly happy and accepted? As a writer, I needed to know what their lives would be like. And there is so much more to tell. I'd happily spend the next ten years in this universe." – Catharina Due Bøhler, game director, CEO and lead writer, Sarepta Studio
Lived experience within the team and the work with the psychologist have taught the team a lot about panic, anxiety, hypervigilance and the window of tolerance, and about why the right words don't always get through.
"All you can really do is be there. Sometimes your child won't make it through easily, and it's hard to watch. You can say all the right things, but there isn't always a magical solution." – Catharina Due Bøhler
On mobile, the game is free to play and updated regularly, so anyone can care for their child, including the many players who can't buy a game outright. On PC, players have asked for the full story without restrictions, so updates come less often but arrive all at once, for one price.

Brazil has been by far the largest Android market for My Child Lebensborn, which is why the studio chose Brasil Game Show for the announcement.
"We have been moved by the care and love players all over the world have for Karin and Klaus. Many have wanted to play the whole story without waiting. Steam lets us give them exactly that. Announcing it here in Brazil, where so many of our players are, felt right." – Catharina Due Bøhler
My Child New Beginnings and My Child Lebensborn are both playable at Brasil Game Show (9–12 October, São Paulo) in the indie area, PODs 13 and 14. Catharina Due Bøhler, game director, CEO and lead writer, is available for interviews at the show throughout the week, in person at the stand or by video. Topics include bringing the game from mobile to Steam, writing about trauma and healing with input from a psychologist, and building on the legacy of My Child Lebensborn.
