From November 6 - 8, 2026 visitors can explore the Where Dolls Hang immersive digital booth at ENDIX Expo and discover more about the upcoming horror experience. As part of the event, Steelkrill Studio is presenting Where Dolls Hang through its own immersive digital booth, giving visitors an opportunity to discover the upcoming psychological survival horror game.
Inspired by a Real-Life Location in MexicoWhere Dolls Hang draws inspiration from Isla de las Muñecas, a real-life location situated within the canals of Xochimilco in Mexico City.
Famous for the hundreds of dolls hanging from trees, buildings, and surrounding structures, the island has become one of Mexico's most unusual and unsettling attractions. Its eerie appearance and the folklore surrounding its origins have fascinated visitors for decades.
Taking inspiration from this real-world location, Steelkrill Studio has created an original fictional setting that combines Mexican folklore, psychological horror, and a disturbing mystery waiting to be uncovered.
While the game's story is entirely fictional, its atmosphere is heavily influenced by the unsettling imagery and legends associated with the real Island of the Dolls.
Bringing Real Photographs Into a Fictional NightmareOne of the game's more unusual features is its integration of real-world photography into the fictional environment. Several dolls and objects appearing throughout Where Dolls Hang have been recreated as 3D models based on real photographs. Some of the original photographs can also be discovered within the game itself.
This allows players to encounter a disturbing object in the game before potentially finding the real photograph that inspired its creation, further blurring the boundary between fiction and reality.
The game also features discoverable VHS tapes containing real classic films such as Night of the Living Dead. These tapes can be inserted into televisions and watched directly within the game world, providing an additional layer of immersion.
Of course, whatever might be lurking inside the house won't necessarily wait for the movie to finish… so players should be careful if they think they can enjoy a movie in peace.
