October 6, 2023 - Hooded Horse is excited to share more details on the Steam Next Fest build for Mars Tactics, which is going to take the event by storm this week with an all-new combat demo. Bringing together all of the latest improvements, this build also comes with three new scenarios that illustrate the high-stakes, high reward missions players might encounter in the game’s strategic layer.
Fight for control over the red planet as either Capital or Labor, experience everything from new weather effects and smoother graphics, to destructible terrain and improved suppression systems. Tactical combat in Mars Tactics is better than it's ever been, and the 2023 Next Fest demo offers players three diverse missions illustrating different types of tactical engagements.
Jail Break
Prisoners are an important source of information in Mars Tactics. In this mission, players can attempt to rescue previously captured Labor soldiers so they can continue to fight for worker’s rights on Mars. This engagement will further showcase the new unarmed combat mechanics, where prisoners will need to knock out their jailors and steal their weapons.
Jet Set
Air power is critical in the war for Mars. From air strikes and aerial insertions, to trade and logistics, you’ll need every jet you can get your hands on to maintain your dominance on the strategy map. In this mission, players will get to break into a Capital spaceport to steal another jet for the cause of Labor!
Outpost Assault
Mars is littered with outposts and installations, and their control will ultimately determine who will rule Mars. These outposts will need to be garrisoned, and the troops stationed there supplied as they venture forth into the Martian landscape for missions. In this third scenario, players will need to capture one of these outposts.
Alongside these scenarios, key improvements to gameplay include:
- An intuitive system for rewarding tactical suppression
- New reactions, such as troops scrambling for cover to escape grenades
- New mechanics, such as air strikes and melee
- Better fog of war
- New weapon options with four types of grenades
- Fine-tuned controls for diving into and stepping out of cover
- Weather effects such as sandstorms
- Unit traits that develop both personality as well as tactical utility
Steam Next Fest runs from October 9 - 16, and the demo will be live for the whole duration of the festival.
Mars Tactics will release on PC via Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store. A press kit is available.
