Tomelilla, Sweden, May, 21, 2025 - Truer than You, a choice-driven visual novel from indie studio Transcenders Media, is set to launch on Steam on May 28, 2025. A spiritual successor to the studio’s first visual novel, Knife Sisters, Truer than You presents a vibrant and beautifully stylized world deep in the clutches of Capitalism. Guide main character Rin through their new job as a gig-worker for a secretive company which sends actors into real-life situations, as they battle when to toe the company line and when to follow their heart during a series of demanding and unique situations.
When Rin, a non-binary 26-year-old, starts a novel new job as a gig-worker they end up in some highly unusual positions. From pretending to be someone’s soulmate to filming anonymous activist videos, Rin is free to make their own decisions on how they approach clients and their requests, with one strict rule: don’t let anyone know they’re an actor!
But what would push someone to leave their life behind and become a completely new person? Can you truly outrun your past by pretending to be someone else?
Truer than You doesn’t shy away from complex ideas, questioning roles and norms in society, including gender, sexuality, identity and relationship norms. LGBTQ+ and diversity aspects are a mainstay of the game, with wide-ranging sexualities and gender identities represented in its characters and a “queer utopia” setting where these identities are common, and same sex relationships are not frowned upon.
With a keen awareness that not all players are interested in pursuing romance, Truer than You allows players to play to their own comfort levels, exploring non-normative relationship options across the LGBTQ+ spectrum. This is made possible by the game's intelligent, flowing dialogue system, which has over 1,000 dialogue options so you can decide whether to stay silent or speak your mind.
