Knights Province releases its 12th Alpha

A medieval themed RTS with old-school game mechanics where town-building matters.

Do you remember RTS games from the 90s - the golden era: Settlers 4, Warcraft I or Anno 1602? Unlike many modern RTS games, which are fast-paced and often are more about combat tactics, Knights Province puts an emphasis on the good old “strategy” component. Slower-paced gameplay, thorough base-building, resource collection, processing and logistical planning, in-depth strategic choices, variety of resources and units, attention to details. Built-in Map Editor and dynamic map scripting available to all players out of the box - check!
 

Knights Province has been in development by Krom Stern since 2013 and has seen 11 alpha releases, each one adding substantially to the game’s vision. Current Alpha 12 release is the biggest one by the time and amount of work that went into it. It also means that the game is still gaining new features and experimenting with game mechanics paying close attention to feedback from the community.


Knights Province is currently available for free on the games website (knightsprovince.com) and has a dedicated Discord community where game discussions, nightly builds and player creations are shared. The game will eventually reach Beta status and is planned to be released on Steam at a price. Target platform is PC.

-   30 tangible resources - every item gets mined, transported and processed by your servants

-   Strategic army management - each battle requires tactical preparations, attention and control
-   Offline Single-Player - story campaigns scenarios and skirmish against AI
-   Online and LAN multiplayer - coming at a later date
-   Built-in Map Editor - allows players to easily create custom maps and campaigns with  -   extensive scripting capabilities
-   On-line ladder - compete with other players for the best mission walkthroughs
-   Relaxing or tense gameplay - make your your choice with variable game speed
-   Text localization into 8 languages (more to come)


The game is planned to have a couple more Alphas after the current one, to crystalize the remaining features before going into Beta stage where main focus will be put on art assets, fine balance and modding support.

Krom Stern is a solo indie game developer known for his leading role in Knights and Merchants Remake since 2008. He creates tech behind the Knights Province in Delphi programming language and does all the art direction.
