FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Hand-drawn 2D Metroidvania from Istanbul-based Punica Games is set in a world with no daylight, where the only light source is a living flame companion.
ISTANBUL, Türkiye, [DATE]: Independent studio Punica Games will launch the public demo for Fading Light, its hand-drawn 2D Metroidvania set on a planet in perpetual darkness, this October on Steam. The demo offers a 45-60 minute slice of the game's Mountain biome.
Fading Light has no global light. Almost every frame is lit by Spark, a living fire companion who travels with the player. Spark acts on his own: he gets curious, gets scared, helps in combat and talks a lot. The story is carried entirely by the constant dialogue between Spark and Noteo, the near-silent hunter he accompanies, and their bond deepens mechanically throughout the game.
The demo will also include an optional co-op mode, in which a second player takes direct control of Spark and becomes the light source themselves, locally or via Steam Remote Play Together.
Fading Light's full release is aimed at late 2027 on PC via Steam.
