The first finalists for the Euro Play games contest, sponsored by Kwalee, have been announced. 15 games from across Europe will do battle in a live Twitch showcase on Thursday 26th August, once again hosted by Mr Midas, as part of this year’s digital gamescom.
The first finalists announced for the event are:
- Belarus (BelGameDev) - Beyond the Thaw by Paraya Games.
- Belgium (BelgianGames) – You Suck at Parking by Happy Volcano.
- Cyprus – The Unliving by RocketBrush Studio
- Italy (IDEA, The Italian Interactive Digital Entertainment Association) – Batora: Lost Heaven by Stormind Games.
- Romania (Romanian Game Developers Association) – Bear and Breakfast by Gummy Cat Studio
- Spain (Dev – Spanish Game Developers Association) – The Occultist by Pentakill Studios
- Serbia (Serbian Games Association) – Ripout by Pet Project Games
- Switzerland (Pro Helvetia, Swiss Arts Council) - Wild Planet by Lukyantsez Company
- Ukraine (Ukraine GameDev Nation) – Sketch Crawler by game by Koan
Some of the entrants will be announced closer to the event at the conclusion of national selection processes.
This includes the entrant from the UK, who will be announced following the UK Game of the Show competition on Thursday 24th August.
The complete list of finalists will then participate in the Euro Play showcase on the 26th August, with a public vote helping to determine the best unreleased game across Europe.
