TOKYO, JAPAN: Spetember 29th, 2022 - Japanese indie developer Odencat Inc. announced today that their first all-new title in more than two years, Meg’s Monster, will now be releasing on Steam and Nintendo Switch™ in early 2023. The game was first revealed in May as part of the INDIE Live Expo showcase, and is the studio’s first game to be built from the ground up for console and PC, following enhanced ports of their highly acclaimed earlier titles Bear’s Restaurant and Fishing Paradiso.
The developer has now announced that the game will be taking part in SteamNextFest starting October 3rd, and has released a free demo version on Steam to celebrate.
Special Demo Now Available on Steam!
Steam users can now download a free demo of Meg’s Monster for Windows, Mac, and Linux and experience the beginning of the adventure on their PC or on their SteamDeck. Featuring approximately forty minutes of gameplay (including some unique scenes that will play out differently in the full game), the developer encourages all players to give it a try and check out Odencat’s first-ever turn-based battle system for themselves, while also getting a taste of the game’s rich, atmospheric world and soundtrack. The studio has also announced plans to stream the demo with developer commentary as part of SteamNextFest (beginning on October 3rd).

New Platforms & Release Window
When first announced back in May of this year, Odencat called Meg’s Monster their “biggest game yet.” Since then, the developer has continued to improve and expand upon the game, while also working to ensure they can release the game on as many platforms as possible, in addition to Steam and Nintendo Switch™. Although Odencat is keeping its lips sealed as to what these additional platforms are at this point in time, this increase in project scope has necessitated a delay from their original target release window of Fall 2022 to Q1 2023. The studio hopes that this additional development time will allow them to ensure the game is of the highest quality, while also making it available to as many players as possible. The studio will also keep fans updated with more updates on their Facebook and Twitter profiles.
