Celebrating Furi's Community for a week, biggest discount and sales number disclosed

Four years after the release of Furi, their stylish 100% boss rush game with a killer electro soundtrack, indie studio The Game Bakers is returning the love they have received from the game amazing community with a Community Week.

Events and contests are organized along the week and the game is getting its biggest discount ever on Steam (75% off) and on Nintendo Switch (65% off).

The Game Bakers traces lot of the success of the game (numbers below) back to the reputation it acquired among its players. It found a passionate audience of players looking for a challenging gameplay requiring skills and self-mastery, a certain Japanese vibe, memorable characters served by a meaningful story and an unforgettable soundtrack.

During the week, the spotlight is set on all the amazing art, videos and messages Furi players created. On the program: Ask Me Anything sessions with the dev team, livestreams to focus on the work behind Furi’s story or its Boss combat design, and  some behind the scene of the game development.

The full planning is available here.

The Game Bakers team is currently finishing the work on the romantic RPG Haven due later this year.

Furi in numbers

It's the opportunity to share some numbers about the game that launched as PlayStation Plus free game of the month and on Steam in July 2016, on Xbox later in 2016 and on Switch early 2018.

"Furi’s first month was at the same time spectacular with over 2.8 million downloads on Playstation and very scary with only 17 000 sales on Steam. Did the free downloads cannibalize the sales? Or did they compensate with the extra visibility? We will never know... But what surprised us with Furi, and what we happily discovered after a few months, is that it never stopped selling! " says Audrey Leprince - Executive producer. "Thanks to the game quality - it was rated for a while 95% by Steam players and is still today at 91% - and the support of the community, the game continued selling over the years. We were lucky to have created a game unique enough to become an “Evergreen” title."

This was also helped by the launch for Furi on Switch, where the game performed really well, of the DLC One More Fight and our continued support of the game (free updates with improvements and new features like the Freedom Update with Invincible mode, Speedrun in Furier, new languages, …).

All in all, in addition to the 2.8 million downloads, the game sold over 700 000 copies, about 40% of those on Steam.

The game's soundtrack has also come a long way, with over 40 million streams on Spotify only, 45 million on Youtube. What a journey!
