Hibernian Workshop, the French indie studio behind the acclaimed action roguelite Astral Ascent, is proud to announce the launch of its collaboration update with Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, developed by Sandfall Interactive.The update is available today for free on PC, PS4/5, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.
About the update
This free update brings the world of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 directly into the Astral Prison. Players will face three brand new boss fights featuring iconic characters from the Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 univers: Golgra, Petank and Mime, across three environments that capture the unique atmosphere of Sandfall Interactive's world.
Six heroes from the Expedition also join as summons: Maelle, Gustave, Lune, Sciel, Monoco and Verso. Each one brings a unique mechanic that actively impacts gameplay, with both regular attacks and powerful ultimate abilities for a total of 22 summon variations . From Maelle’s stance system tied to the player’s HP to Monoco’s card draw summoning powerful creatures, every summon opens new strategic possibilities.
The update also includes 2 new music tracks and a very special guest waiting in the campfire: Esquie will wait for those who need a hug!
The collaboration update is available simultaneously on Nintendo Switch 2, marking Astral Ascent’s debut on Nintendo’s latest hardware.
A meeting between two French studios
This collaboration is the first in-game crossover for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 since its release, and a milestone for both teams. Hibernian Workshop and Sandfall Interactive are two French independent studios, both deeply committed to creating handcrafted, ambitious games with strong artistic identities. This update is a celebration of that shared spirit.
