May 27, 2025 – Independent game developer and publisher The Behemoth is excited to announce that Alien Hominid Invasion and Alien Hominid HD will be released for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on Tuesday, June 10th, at 10:00 AM PDT.
Originally created by Programmer Tom Fulp and Artist Dan Paladin, Alien Hominid was first uploaded to Newgrounds as a Flash game with a simple premise: Your UFO has crash-landed, and the FBI is out to get you – it’s time to take them out! Championed for its hardcore run ‘n’ gun gameplay and hand-drawn level design, the game was further developed for PlayStation 2, GameCube, Xbox, and GameBoy Advance, later earning fifth on IGN’s “Top 10 Most Challenging PS2 Games of All Time” list.
In Alien Hominid Invasion, the alien now has a health bar instead of the original title’s one-shot kill mechanic, granting more players the courage to fight back against the agents than ever before! Co-op partners can play across skill gaps by each choosing their own difficulty setting from Friendly, Normal, or INSANE, and there is a wide variety of weapons and boosts available to support many styles of play. On PlayStation 5, Alien Hominid Invasion will support 120hz for the first time, and players’ DualSense controllers will light up with the color of their chosen alien pigment!
The games will co-launch on the PlayStation Store, where both titles will also be available for purchase in a discounted bundle. The pricing in USD is as follows:
- Alien Hominid Invasion - $19.99
- Alien Hominid HD - $11.99
- Alien Hominid: The Extra Terrestrial Bundle - $24.99 for both games
Announced last July as part of The Behemoth’s company roadmap, the Alien Hominid PlayStation ports are part of a larger initiative by the studio to update their entire gaming library and increase game availability across platforms. Further updates include the Castle Crashers Painter Boss Paradise DLC landing this summer, in addition to a quality-of-life update for BattleBlock Theater’s Steam version that will later inform the game’s modern console release.
