Valkyrie Initiative announces the Decadent Heir playtest is now live on Steam during Russian Games Festival 2026

May 1, 2026 — Valkyrie Initiative and developer PRdroid Games are pleased to announce that the Decadent Heir Playtest is now live on Steam as part of Russian Games Festival 2026, an online festival celebrating games from Russian-speaking developers around the world.

Players who previously requested access have already been invited, and new requests will continue to be approved manually throughout the Playtest. Anyone interested in taking part can request access directly from the Decadent Heir Steam page.

The limited-time Playtest runs from May 1 at 11:00 AM PT / 6:00 PM UTC through May 15 at 11:00 AM PT / 6:00 PM UTC.

The Playtest gives players a chance to experience an updated version of the game’s first chapter, featuring improvements to both story content and gameplay systems. Compared to the previously released demo, this version also introduces full Russian voice acting for dialogue, Steam achievements, an in-game feedback form, and a special reward for Playtest participants.

Players who complete the Playtest achievement will be able to unlock an exclusive talent for the full release version of the game. The reward talent, Lucky Charm, increases the player’s chances when making risky decisions — a key part of Decadent Heir’s choice-driven design.

In Decadent Heir, risk is not simply a pass-or-fail mechanic. Players can attempt difficult choices even when their character’s stats are not ideal, but the consequences may be severe. A risky decision might open a new story branch, change the course of a relationship, alter a political outcome, or even lead to the death of the main character.

At the beginning of the game, players choose one of four core talents, each offering a different way to influence the story and overcome obstacles. The exclusive Lucky Charm talent adds another option for those who take part in the Playtest, giving them a new way to approach future playthroughs when the game launches.
