SANTA MONICA, California — August 17, 2026 — Following last week’s Mac App Store launch, Ludit will bring the original Dark Castle and Beyond Dark Castle to Steam on August 18, 2026, making the complete existing Dark Castle saga available together on Steam for the first time.
Originally released for the Macintosh in 1986 and 1987, Dark Castle and Beyond Dark Castle became defining titles of early personal-computer gaming. The new releases are faithful replicas rather than remakes or reinterpretations, preserving the original games’ distinctive 1-bit artwork, animation, audio, timing, challenge and darkly comic personality.
AVAILABLE AUGUST 18 ON STEAM
Dark Castle — $9.99
https://store.steampowered.com/app/4706290/Dark_Castle/
Beyond Dark Castle — $9.99

The Dark Castle Collection — $29.99

The Collection brings together all three existing Dark Castle adventures: the original Dark Castle, its expanded sequel Beyond Dark Castle, and the 2008 follow-up Return to Dark Castle, rereleased for modern systems earlier this year.
Developed in partnership with Indigo Matrix using Indigo Runtime technology, the Classic editions reproduce the behavior and presentation of the original Macintosh games on contemporary hardware.
The releases are part of Ludit’s broader effort to preserve and rebuild the Dark Castle franchise while developing an all-new installment for a new generation of players.
