Return to the Roots of Adventure Games with Hell is Us, Now Available on PC and Consoles

Lesquin, France, 4 September 2025 – Publisher NACON and studio Rogue Factor are delighted to announce that the action-adventure game Hell is Us, their most ambitious project to date, is officially released today on PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X|S and PC (Steam, Epic Games Store).

Trusting players’ intelligence: the philosophy at the heart of Hell is Us
The game features a singular approach to game design, that can best be described by the term “player-plattering”, which encourages exploration and reflection by eliminating artificial forms of assistance, in order to fully rediscover the immersive pleasure of exploration and go back to the roots of adventure games. Hell is Us doesn't feature markers or quest journals detailing exactly what to do, but there's no shortage of points of interest and secrets to uncover: players must use their curiosity and instincts to discover places steeped in history that will lead them to explore various areas in Hadea, from villages to ancient, forgotten dungeons.

A gripping story set in a mysterious world, at the crossroads of reality and fantasy
The story of Hell is Us takes place in Hadea, a mysterious fictional country cut off from the world and ravaged by a deadly civil war. Remi, the game's protagonist, was born there but was smuggled out by his parents when he was a child. Now a peacekeeper sent on a mission to this territory, he sees his return as an opportunity to uncover the secrets of his origins and the reasons that forced his parents to abandon him. 
In addition to this quest for the past against the backdrop of civil war is the mystery of a curious phenomenon called ‘the Calamity,’ which causes strange creatures reminiscent of ancient headstones and monuments in the region to appear, and which Remi will have to face throughout his journey.

Combat: the other core pillar of Hell is Us
While combat is an integral part of the gaming experience, Hell is Us should not be considered as a “souls-like” title. The combat system is meant to enrich exploration and investigation sequences to create a coherent and immersive adventure. Although difficulty is not at the heart of the game, which is primarily centred on story and discovery, the combat system offers a well-balanced level of depth and challenge. Players must master original mechanics and moves, and adapt to enemy attacks. They can rely on a variety of weapons and skills, as well as the help of KAPI, a drone capable of distracting opponents or enabling special attacks.
