Pompeii: The Legacy Demo Returns

A Glimpse into Production and Progress

The demo for Pompeii: The Legacy, the story-driven city builder set in ancient Rome, is once again live on Steam , but only for a limited time. Players can download and play the demo until Monday, August 4th, offering a final chance to experience the game before its Early Access launch.

Alongside the demo’s return, solo developer Zeljko Kos has published a new developer blog that dives into the heart of the game’s economy: production chains. From extracting iron deep below the hills to crafting essential tools in the blacksmith’s forge, these systems are designed to bring the ancient city to life in a grounded and immersive way.

The blog highlights key examples such as:

  • Sand Pit → Glasswork – Where raw sand becomes elegant Roman glassware.

  • Iron Mine → Blacksmith – Turning ore into tools vital for civilian life and city growth.

  • Clay Pit → Charcoal Burner → Brickwork – A multi-stage chain powering construction across Pompeii.

Each chain is accompanied by new screenshots, showing how industry and infrastructure work hand-in-hand to support your citizens’ needs.

The updated demo includes refinements based on player feedback from Steam Next Fest, and more improvements are coming ahead of Early Access. Players who miss this demo window will have another chance to try it out roughly ten days before release.
