GAMESCOM: COLOGNE – THURSDAY, AUGUST 21, 2025 — Lofty Sky Entertainment has unveiled the first look at gameplay for its new non-linear mystery adventure Hope in the City. The exclusive reveal was part of yesterday’s FGS Live in Cologne Showcase at Gamescom. This follows the game’s reveal in June during the FGS Live in LA at Summer Game Fest.
Hope in the City is an original narrative mystery that puts players in the shoes of 17-year-old Hope Song, who returns home from school to discover her parents have disappeared. The new trailer highlights the gameplay at the heart of this unique, branching detective game
Artful Investigation
The game’s protagonist is a talented artist who collects her thoughts and insights in a sketchbook she carries with her throughout the game. The sketchbook becomes Hope’s canvas, and the player’s art-filled interface for solving the mystery.
A Unique Gameplay Mechanic Based on Thoughts
Combine thoughts captured in the sketchbook to form insights — unlocking new locations, dialogue options, and clues in her search! Further combine an insight with another thought to achieve a breakthrough, progressing the investigation and unveiling the mystery!
Cinematic Cutscenes
Encounter stylized cutscenes (see lead image, above) throughout the game, created by Lofty Sky’s award-winning animation team, which produced the first animated feature selected as Canada’s official submission to the Academy Awards® for Best International Feature Film in 2023.
Hope in the City can be wishlisted on Steam. For more information, visit the Lofty Sky website, follow the team on X, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and Facebook. Join the conversation on Discord for exclusive updates on these experiences, games, and more.
