GodsTV Animated Series Launches Alongside Playable Demo

PRESS RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 18 August 2026

Bath, UK / Barcelona, Spain — Spud Gun Studios, the independent animation studio behind Mashed (7M+ followers, 2B+ lifetime views), and Barcelona based game developer Melbot Studios are launching the GodsTV animated series pilot and playable game demo simultaneously on 18 August 2026.

TheGodsTV animated series has been built from the ground up alongside the game itself, with both designed to launch together and drive audiences between the two.

The pilot episode, which runs five minutes in length, will premiere on the Mashed YouTube channel, with full eight minute long episodes releasing quarterly in sync with major game updates.

About GodsTV
GodsTV is a satirical roguelite where players are contestants in a deranged reality TV show run by alien gods. It blends chaotic action with absurdist humour as players fight for fame across interdimensional broadcast battles. The game's irreverent tone and visual style made it a natural fit for animation through Mashed, a channel built on exactly that sensibility.

Why This Matters
Most animated content tied to games arrives years after launch, funded by an already proven franchise. GodsTV flips that model. The animated series and the game are launching as creative partners, each built to complement the other and share audiences from day one.

For Mashed, it represents the next step in the channel's evolution from a gaming animation powerhouse to a studio that actively shapes the games it works with. For Melbot Studios, it means launching with immediate access to one of the largest animation audiences in gaming.

About Melbot Studios

The team combines art, technology, and imagination to create playful, unexpected worlds for players to get lost in. GodsTV is their debut title.

Quotes
Tom Payne, Managing Director, Spud Gun Studios: "Animation shouldn't be an afterthought once a game has already proven itself. We built the GodsTV series to stand on its own as a show, but also to bring our audience into the game from day one. We want both to thrive independently and to keep pushing people between the two. If we get this right, it's a blueprint for how animation and gaming audiences can grow together rather than one always chasing the other."

Josema Roig, Creative Director, Melbot Studios: “Indie games and indie animation have been running in parallel for the last few years. Viewers and players are looking for stuff that feels authentic, human made and genre defying. We feel so inspired by what indie animation is doing, with bringing back boldness. We hope our games can do it too, and we’re very excited to see how it works on both sides of the keyboard.”
