Autism-friendly VR adventure BLINNK and the Vacuum of Space launching on PS VR2

BLINNK and the Vacuum of Space takes off on PlayStation VR2 on October 10 2023

BLINNK and the Vacuum of Space is a ground-breaking intergalactic adventure which brings accessible fun to all PS VR2 players, and represents a significant step forward in providing entertainment options that cater to a neurodiverse audience.

It is particularly designed to help autistic players to get the most from their VR gaming experience, and is packed with autism-friendly features. The inclusive, immersive virtual world features stunning visuals, charming characters and engaging gameplay, all meticulously designed to be positive, enjoyable and stress-free. It’s fun, funny and full of memorable moments.

The setting is Norpopolis Space Station, where the mischievous Groobs have escaped in an unfortunate lab accident – and are now causing chaos! Using your trusty Vacuumizer 5000, your task is to recapture them before your boss, Mr Norp, finds out. You will travel through the space station helping the Norpopoleans complete various tasks, while earning Norp Bucks along the way.

Key features in the game include:

  • No Fail State: the game allows you to explore the virtual world at your own pace, without the fear of failure, in order to promote a sense of accomplishment and reduce anxiety.

  • Inclusive Design: developers have worked closely with autistic individuals to create a comfortable and enjoyable experience for all players.

  • Time-out: if you need to take a break, hit the smart watch and you’re immediately taken to The Fold, a cool, tranquil area where you can relax until you’re ready to return to the action.

  • Accessibility Menu: you can fine tune the game to suit your sensitivities – colour, sound and other elements can be adjusted to make your visit to Norpopolis more comfortable.

  • PS VR 2: BLINNK and the Vacuum of Space takes full advantage of PS VR2’s technology to create a seamless, joyous experience.

Changingday is headed by Alison and Nick Lang, who have an autistic daughter.

“We are thrilled to introduce BLINNK and the Vacuum of Space to the world. Autistic people love playing video games, but games are not always designed for them – the colours can be too bright, the noises too loud, the gameplay too confusing,” says Alison, CEO at Changingday. “BLINNK is designed from the ground up for autistic players, based on considerable research about what games they enjoy, what they find challenging and what features they would like. We believe that gaming should be for everyone, and BLINNK embodies that principle.”

BLINNK and the Vacuum of Space launches on PS VR2 on October 10, and can be wishlisted now!

BLINNK and the Vacuum of Space is also available on Meta Quest, SteamVR, Pico, and Viveport.
